3D AREOLA TATTOO:
Three dimensional areola tattooing is a specialized, restorative, tattoo technique that gives the illusion of a 3D nipple but is actually 2D. This tattoo technique is used to recreate the areola-nipple complex for breast cancer survivors who have lost their nipples due to mastectomies. By cosmetically recreating the illusion of a three dimensional nipple and areola with tattoo ink, patients start to repair their confidence and body positivity.
This tattoo technique can also be performed for transgender clients to create a more ‘typical male’ or ‘female’ nipple/areola.
Areola tattooing may also be performed on natural areola/nipples to enhance color, create balance and shape.

FAQ’s:
How much does it cost?
The procedure is compassionately priced and based on multiple factors such as bilateral vs unilateral. Prices will be quoted via a virtual or in-person required consultation.
How long does the tattoo last?
For most clients, the tattoo will last a lifetime after the initial 2 sessions. Some people require a small touch-up every 5-10 years to add details back and increase color vibrance.
How is the shape and color determined?
You and Stephanie will decide all of these things together to achieve your desired outcome. She will draw the outline in pencil to discuss placement and sizing. Color is determined according to your preference, taking into account the “Fitzpatrick scale,” a classification of skin tones. The client approves everything before Stephanie begins the procedure.
How many appointments will it take?
This process is a two step process but in most cases it only takes one. If the client requires a second session 6-8 weeks later(which is included in the price) then this is when color can be added, tone can be adjusted, and details perfected.
Is this procedure covered by insurance?
At this time Stephanie does not take any insurance. However, it is worth checking and asking if your insurance will reimburse you, even partially. Stephanie will provide any documentation they request.
How do I prepare?
Make sure to read and follow the pre and post care instructions entirely before. You can reference that HERE.
The day of the procedure the client will want to wear a comfortable bra and bring any photos of their breasts prior to surgery, if you have them and are wanting the same areolas (not needed). Also, feel free to bring any inspo photos to show color, shape, and size preference.
What is the downtime after the procedure?
There is no down time with this procedure and you should be able to resume your normal activity. However, there are a few restrictions: No rigorous exercise for the first 24 hours, avoid sweating for a week, no soaking in bathtubs, swimming pools or hot tubs for at least 7 day after.
Is this procedure painful?
No. Most of the time there is no pain in the reconstructed breast. Stephanie uses a topical anesthetic before the procedure, as well a secondary anesthetic during the procedure so there is little to no pain.
